The automotive world recently witnessed the introduction of the redesigned 2027 Kia Seltos at the New York Auto Show, marking a significant evolution for the popular subcompact SUV. Recognizing that not every driver requires a large utility vehicle, Kia continues to cater to those seeking a more compact and economically viable option, positioning the Seltos as an attractive choice under the $30,000 threshold. This new iteration follows its global reveal late last year, now making its official North American debut with a host of enhancements.
Reflecting Kia's contemporary design philosophy, the updated Seltos showcases a more adventurous aesthetic, drawing inspiration from the brand's electric vehicle lineup and the larger Telluride SUV. Its exterior boasts squared-off lines and an option for flush door handles, complemented by distinctive vertical daytime running lights in an amber hue and nearly connected vertical taillights via a sleek light bar. Beyond its striking appearance, the second-generation Seltos has expanded in size, both internally and externally, featuring a wheelbase extended by 2.4 inches and an increased ground clearance of up to 8.1 inches. The range includes LX, S, EX, and the premium X-Line models, with wheel options spanning from 16-inch alloys to 18- and 19-inch alternatives.
Under the hood, the 2027 Seltos offers diverse powertrain choices, including a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder and a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, the latter producing 190 horsepower and exclusively paired with all-wheel drive. A notable addition is the Seltos Hybrid, which combines a 1.6-liter turbo-four with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and introduces Kia's innovative electronic all-wheel-drive system (e-AWD) for the first time in a hybrid SUV. Inside, the cabin features a modern layout with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, an optional 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a separate 5.0-inch touchscreen for climate controls, alongside traditional physical buttons for essential functions. Enhancements also include a new column-mounted electronic shifter, standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and luxurious options such as a panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable seats with memory settings, and advanced driver-assist systems like a 360-degree camera and blind-spot monitoring. Passenger comfort is improved with an additional inch of rear-seat legroom and expanded cargo capacity, offering 28 cubic feet behind the second row and up to 64 cubic feet with the seats folded.
The debut of the 2027 Kia Seltos represents Kia's dedication to innovation and consumer-focused design. By blending aesthetic appeal with practical advancements in size, technology, and powertrain options, Kia continues to set benchmarks in the competitive subcompact SUV segment. This new model is not merely a vehicle but a testament to thoughtful engineering, providing drivers with efficiency, versatility, and sophisticated features. Its introduction signifies a forward-looking approach to mobility, encouraging exploration and embracing new possibilities on the road ahead.
The 2027 Genesis GV70 is a compact luxury SUV that excels in modern design, advanced technology, and a comfortable interior. It offers two potent engine options: a 300-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder and a 375-hp twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6, both paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. Despite not being as track-focused as some competitors, it provides a refined driving experience at a competitive price, making it a compelling choice in its segment.

Honda has announced a substantial $7,500 price cut across all trims of its Prologue EV, effective immediately. This strategic move aims to realign pricing with current market demands and counter the dip in EV sales following the elimination of federal tax credits. The revised pricing makes the front-wheel-drive EX model more accessible, starting at $41,395, with the top-tier all-wheel-drive Elite now priced from $51,895, enhancing the vehicle's competitiveness in the electric vehicle segment.
