After a series of exterior updates in 2021 and 2024, Volkswagen is ushering in a completely new era for its mid-size, three-row SUV, the Atlas, with its 2027 model. The German automaker recently shared an exclusive preview of the updated interior, sparking considerable interest among car enthusiasts and potential buyers.
The teaser image reveals a section of the dashboard, which, despite being partially obscured by shadow, showcases an abundance of intricate ambient lighting. This new dashboard layout bears a striking resemblance to that of the 2026 Volkswagen Teramont Pro, a model currently available in China. This suggests that higher trim levels of the new Atlas will likely feature a secondary display screen, while more economical versions might retain a conventional dashboard design.
While the full specifications of the 2027 Atlas remain under wraps, automotive experts have a strong indication of its potential appearance, thanks to earlier prototype drives. Key details such as engine configurations, pricing strategies, and available trim levels are yet to be officially announced. However, it is anticipated that the new Atlas will be powered by a variant of the EA888 turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which is expected to deliver approximately 270 horsepower.
Volkswagen has maintained discretion regarding information about the two-row Cross Sport version of the Atlas. Nevertheless, it is widely expected that this model will mirror the standard Atlas in most aspects, differing primarily in its seating capacity. The complete unveiling of the next-generation Atlas is slated for the New York Auto Show, scheduled for the first week of April, where all remaining details will be officially announced.
Mercedes-AMG will launch a convertible version of its G63 model in the United States by 2028, marking a return of the G-Class convertible to the US market after a decade-long absence. The new four-door G63 Cabriolet will retain the iconic boxy design and feature a powerful twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter mild-hybrid V8 engine, producing 577 horsepower. Production is slated to begin in Austria in late 2027.
