Mitsubishi Unveils Enhanced 2026 Outlander PHEV with Greater Power and Range

Mitsubishi is set to launch its 2026 Outlander PHEV with a new starting price of $44,990, an increase of $2845 over the 2025 model. Despite the higher cost, this updated version comes with a substantially improved plug-in hybrid system, offering both increased range and significantly more horsepower. The most notable enhancement is the larger 23-kW battery, which provides a claimed 45 miles of electric range, alongside an advanced cooling system and better thermal management. These improvements allow the Outlander PHEV to produce 297 horsepower, a considerable jump from the previous 248 hp, promising a more engaging driving experience with refined steering and suspension.

Beyond the powertrain, the 2026 Outlander PHEV also receives comprehensive design and feature updates, mirroring those applied to the 2025 non-hybrid Outlander. The exterior has been revitalized with a revised front grille, new headlights and taillights, and fresh 18- and 20-inch wheel options. Inside, the cabin has been completely redesigned, now featuring a premium Yamaha sound system, a more spacious center console for storage, a relocated wireless charging pad, and more accessible cup holders, all contributing to a more comfortable and modern environment for occupants. Specific pricing for higher trims, such as the SE, SEL, and the new Black Edition, will be disclosed closer to the model's release in May.
